The #1 Tool For Self Tapes & Line Memorization

Hello there! Welcome to the Rehearser Blog page. This is a relaxed, informal space I like to use to keep my users updated on all the fun stuff I’m doing with Rehearser.

Goodness, where are my manners? I haven’t even introduced myself. My name is Matt. I’m an actor with a full time day job, so recording sides had always been a nightmare for me. From flaky readers, to bad readers, to feeling rushed by my reader, or simply not just having the time to submit a self tape, we’ve all experienced the same issues with self-taping ever since March 2020.

I initially created Rehearser for myself (selfish, I know), as a solution to the aforementioned issues. I would typically only use it if my roommates were unavailable, but as I got more and more comfortable with it, Rehearser became my go-to reader for sides, and was immensely helpful in memorizing lines. Not only was I able to sneak in a few self tapes or line memorization sessions during my lunch breaks, but I was also able to record as many takes as I needed until I got the one. I was able to have different voices for each character, further ingraining my character into the scene. I wasn’t on anyone else’s schedule. It was, and still is, amazing.

I used Rehearser quietly by lonesome until I was reached out to by a casting director for a project I’d recently auditioned for. Not only did she love my audition, she loved the immersive reader experience even more. With her help and guidance, we were able to bring Rehearser to a wide array of actors, students, and casting directors.
